The Way Forward: Developing a Culturally Sensitive Counselling Service for the Traveller Community, 29th SeptemberVenue: The Coach House Dublin CastleDate: Wednesday 29th September 2010Time: 11am to 3pmBackground:The Traveller counselling service is an independent counselling service which was set up to provide a culturally sensitive counselling service to the Traveller community initially in the greater Dublin area. The service has been in existence since February 2008 when it was first launched as a one year pilot project. There has been a lot of Growth and development since the service was first launched. As part of this development it is important that the learning which emerges from this project is shared with others such as service providers, Policy makers and Travellers in order to remove Barriers which might prevent Travellers and other members of ethnic minority groups using counselling and other mental health services. As part of the conference we will be reviewing where we have come from, what developments have taken place and what the way forward looks like for the service. There will be an opportunity for participants to engage in discussion on these issues which will help shape the future development of a culturally sensitive counselling service for the Traveller community in Ireland.
